RSEC COMMODITY JOURNEYPalm mill process & outputs
FFB enters the mill first. CPO, biomass streams and POME then emerge from different parts of the mill process; palm kernel continues separately into the PKO journey.

PHASE 03 · BIOMASS OUTPUTS

Three biomass outputs.
Three handling needs.

Empty Fruit Bunches, mesocarp fibre and palm kernel shell leave the mill with different moisture levels, physical characteristics and commercial uses. They should not be treated as one undifferentiated waste stream.

RSEC’s operating narrative separates these materials so stock discipline, moisture management and potential domestic or export use can be evaluated independently.

Palm oil mill process showing FFB arrival, CPO extraction and three biomass outputs recovered in parallel: EFB, mesocarp fibre and palm kernel shell
How the three biomass streams emerge from the palm oil mill: FFB is processed for CPO, while EFB, mesocarp fibre and palm kernel shell are recovered as parallel outputs — one does not become the next.
EFBBulky, fibrous material with high moisture; commonly routed for mulching, composting or biomass applications.
MESOCARP FIBRERecovered from the fruit mesocarp during pressing and commonly used as boiler fuel or for other mill-energy applications.
PALM KERNEL SHELLRecovered after nut cracking and kernel separation; a denser biomass fuel stream handled separately for screening, stockpiling and bulk sale.
