PALM MILL · OUTPUTS HUB
A palm mill produces
more than CPO.
A palm mill creates several value streams at the same time. CPO and palm kernel are the main saleable products, while EFB, mesocarp fibre, shell/cangkang and POME each require their own handling, storage and environmental-control route.
This page therefore treats the mill as an integrated output system — not just an oil tank. The image highlights the parallel streams that must be separated, managed and commercialised correctly.
PRIMARY OILCPOMain saleable crude oil stream, typically collected into storage and quality-controlled before dispatch.
KERNEL STREAMPalm KernelSeparated for kernel-crushing or further sale into the palm-kernel value chain.
BIOMASS STREAMSEFB, Fibre & ShellHandled separately because moisture, contamination risk and end use differ significantly. Open the three-stream factory flow →EFFLUENT MANAGEMENTPOMELiquid effluent requiring controlled treatment, pond management and environmental compliance.
ENVIRONMENT & COMPLIANCE NOTE
POME (Palm Oil Mill Effluent) is not waste to be ignored. Proper mills manage it through treatment ponds, controlled discharge parameters and, in some cases, biogas capture or other recovery systems. This is part of maintaining environmental approvals and operating discipline.
- Commercial checks: tank cleanliness, sample integrity, moisture & impurities and agreed quality specs.
- Operational checks: by-product segregation, stock discipline and traceable movement records.
- Certification context: mills or exporters may work under ISPO, RSPO or customer-specific sustainability and traceability requirements depending on the market.
